Terracon Geotechnique Ltd. and Nak'azdli Development Corporation (NDC) are pleased to announce a new partnership that reflects a shared commitment to sustainable development, community empowerment, and responsible resource management within Nak’azdli Whut’en territory. This partnership brings together Nak'azdli Development Corporation (NDC)'s vision for long-term, values-driven economic growth and Terracon’s extensive experience in delivering geotechnical engineering solutions. Together, the two organizations will work together on projects that serve both community needs and client goals—ensuring development is technically sound, environmentally responsible, and rooted in mutual respect.

The collaboration will focus on delivering high-quality geotechnical services for mining, energy, and infrastructure projects taking place within the traditional territory of Nak’azdli Whut’en. In parallel, the partnership will actively promote economic opportunity, training, and employment opportunities for Nak’azdli members, ensuring community participation in service delivery related to projects that impact their land and lives.

This agreement is part of a broader commitment by both organizations to foster genuine, long-term relationships between industry and Indigenous communities. It demonstrates what is possible when economic development is grounded in respect, shared decision-making, and a deep responsibility to the people and the land.

Terracon Announces Strategic Organizational Changes

Terracon is pleased to announce several strategic organizational changes.

Fidel Villanueva, our Director of Operations, Alberta and BC, has been appointed to the role of Sector Lead - Transportation & Industrial. Fidel's technical expertise and business leadership has contributed to significant growth in Calgary, Edmonton, and British Columbia.

Allan Jansen has been appointed Director of Professional Practice Management & Mentorship, as well as Sector Lead - Utilities & Renewables. Allan's deep understanding of our business and his commitment to fostering professional growth make him uniquely qualified to lead these important initiatives.

Franklin Nwokolo has been appointed to Director of Operations, RMWB as well as Sector Lead - Oilsands. Franklin's exceptional leadership has fostered a thriving team culture and strong client relationships. He is the ideal candidate to lead our RMWB Operations as we grow our service offerings and reach in the region.

Roland Tosney, Principal Mining Geotechnical Engineer, has been appointed Director, Mine Geotechnical Engineering and Sector Lead - Mining. Roland's technical expertise and proven leadership will position Terracon to grow our market share and build our service capabilities.

Lane Maxemiuk has been appointed to Manager, Mine Geotechnical Engineering. Lane is a recognized leader, and will be leveraging his technical expertise and collaborative approach to guide the team's growth.

Diana Camara has been promoted to Supervisor, Mine Geotechnical Engineering. She has been instrumental on a number of mining projects and will be providing direct support and mentorship to our talented team members.

These leadership changes reflect our commitment to investing in our people, and readying our business for the opportunities that lay ahead.

Terracon Announces Retirement of Lee Nichols as Chair of the Board of Directors and Appoints Tara Rihn as new Chair of the Board of Directors

As Terracon heads into 2025, we are pleased to make a significant leadership announcement about our Board of Directors.

After a 42 year tenure as Chair of the Board of Directors, Lee Nichols has decided to transition from this role. His dedicated leadership and vision has been instrumental in shaping Terracon into the thriving organization it is today. We are deeply grateful for his countless contributions and thrilled that he will remain an active member of the Board of Directors and a Senior Technical Advisor, continuing to share his invaluable expertise with staff and clients.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Tara Rihn as the new Chair of the Terracon Board of Directors. A highly respected business leader with extensive executive experience across diverse industries, Tara has served as a valued member of our Board as well as a past Vice President at Terracon. Tara brings a wealth of knowledge and strategic insight to this pivotal role, and her proven ability to drive growth and navigate complex business landscapes will be essential as we continue to advance our strategic objectives.

Finally, this has been a pivotal period in our corporate structure. Our Ownership Team has increased their current holdings and completed the acquisition of Lee's remaining ownership stake. Our 18 Employee-Owners represent Terracon's 3rd generation of ownership over our 42 history, which is a remarkable achievement in our industry.

We're incredibly optimistic about Terracon's future and are well positioned for continued growth.
