As Director and Principal Engineer at Terracon, Baocheng provides technical leadership and strategic oversight to the geotechnical engineering team. He supports the successful execution of complex civil infrastructure and earthworks projects by guiding constructability assessments, value engineering, quality control, design strategy, and risk management. Baocheng also oversees business development and proposal strategy, ensuring that technical approaches align with client objectives while fostering collaboration across operations teams. He is equally committed to mentoring junior professionals and strengthening Terracon’s technical capabilities across all regions served.

With more than 28 years of experience in civil and geotechnical engineering, Baocheng has worked in both consulting and construction environments on a wide range of infrastructure, industrial, and energy projects. His expertise includes subsurface investigation, deep and shallow foundation design, excavation support, slope stability analysis, and geotechnical testing and instrumentation. He has led engineering design and delivery for major design-build projects across Canada and internationally, including LRTs, bridges, transmission lines, power plants, oil sands developments, and large-scale industrial facilities. He is a registered Professional Engineer across multiple provinces and an active member of several technical societies in Canada and the US.

Outside of work, Baocheng enjoys fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He also likes trying out new sports with his kids, keeping life fun and active. He believes in a supportive leadership style that empowers individuals while maintaining accountability, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
