Terracon Continues Its Support of Keyano College

December 2019

On November 26, 2019 Keyano College held its annual Student Award. Allan Jansen, Terracon's General Manager of Field Services, was asked to participate in the ceremony along with dignitaries from Keyano. Along with the honour of being asked to speak to the students and their invited guests of the event, Allan also presented the second annual Lee Nichols Environmental Studies Award to Rebecca Turner.

Terracon continues to promote its own long standing commitment to employing students and graduates and providing them with practical field based experience in the region. Terracon firmly believes that the community's young minds play a vital role in understanding and contributing to the responsible development of our natural resources and protection of our environment.

NEW IN-HOUSE PILE DRIVING ANALYZER (PDA) EQUIPMENT

July 2019

Terracon is pleased to announce that we have recently purchased new Pile Driving Analyzer® (PDA) system equipment.

The Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) system is the most widely employed system for Dynamic Load Testing and Pile Driving Monitoring in the world. High Strain Dynamic Load Tests, also called PDA tests, assess the capacity of several piles in a single day. Pile Driving Analyzer systems also evaluate shaft integrity, driving stresses, and hammer energy when monitoring installation.

The purpose of the High-Strain Dynamic Pile Testing is to determine the force and velocity response of individual vertical or batter pile to an impact force applied axially by a pile driving hammer or similar device that will cause a large strain impact to the top of the pile, in accordance with ASTM D-4945-00. The data is also used to conduct CAPWAP analysis for the pile. This test method is applicable to deep foundation units that function in a manner similar to foundation piles, regardless of their method of installation provided that they are receptive to high strain impact testing.

Our well trained and certified team together with our previous work experience will guarantee to deliver high quality services to our clients, and performing independent verification testing and analysis.

PDA services can provide clients with foundation cost savings through time and material efficiencies. Terracon PDA services include Driveability Study, Wave Equation Analysis (WEAP), Dynamic Pile Testing (PDA), Signal Matching Analysis (CAPWAP®), Hammer Performance, Pile Damage Identification, Total Ultimate Static Resistance (Bearing Capacity), Engineering Recommendations (Driving Criteria), and Independent Verification Testing.

United Way Silver Partner for 2018

June 2019

We are honoured to be presented with the 2018 Silver Partner and Employee Involvement Awards from United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo. Although it is Terracon's name on the award, this was a result of our employees dedicating their own time and money individually and Terracon matching contributions to the cause. The campaign was spearheaded by Ernest Arsenault and a former employee on a 100% volunteer basis.

Thank you for your dedication to this cause and for bringing such a positive experience to Terracon!

Terracon opens operations in Terrace and Kitimat BC

February 2019

With the award of our first scope of work in northwest British Columbia, Terracon has established a new branch office in Terrace, BC, approximately 40 minutes north of Kitimat. This office is a show of Terracon’s long-term commitment to the region, and work is already underway by Terracon’s management and business development teams to establish ourselves as a new provider of geotechnical, geological, environmental and civil QA/QC services in the region. There are a multitude of mining and other resource projects slated to begin over the next few years in the Terrace/Kitimat region, and to the north in the so-called “Golden Triangle” of BC, and Terracon is excited to now be in a position to provide our services to new clients and projects in the area. In addition to the office being opened, we have moved a mobile soils and concrete laboratory to the region to support our clients and their local projects.
